Damian Diniș, mayor of Băița, dies in tractor accident

Damian Diniș, the mayor of Băița commune in Hunedoara County, died on September 2 following a tractor accident. The incident occurred in the afternoon on a field located off public roads.

According to local police, the 58-year-old mayor was pinned under the vehicle after the tractor overturned. Emergency crews arrived at the scene but confirmed his death. Police from Deva have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the vehicle overturning.

Diniș had served as the leader of Băița since 2000, recently securing his seventh consecutive term following the 2024 local elections. He also held the position of president for the Hunedoara County branch of the Association of Romanian Communes (ACoR).
