During the bout, Pulyaev initially used his length and jabs to maintain distance. After a brief exchange involving a missed head kick from Pinas and a low kick, Pinas found an opening late in the first round. He landed a combination that culminated in a powerful right uppercut, which knocked Pulyaev unconscious at the 1:15 mark of Round 1.
