Damijan Jaklin faces investigation over alleged corruption
The Specialized State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) has filed a request for investigation with the Ljubljana District Court against four individuals, including Damijan Jaklin, the current State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and a member of the NSi party.
The investigation concerns alleged corruption, abuse of position, bribery, and money laundering related to the construction of an eight-million-euro section of the Pomurje waterworks in 2019. Prosecutors allege that Jaklin, while serving as the mayor of Velika Polana, illegally obtained at least 61,000 euros, mostly in cash, through fictitious contracts and shell companies.
The suspects include Jaklin, Jana Habjan (owner of the company JHP), and entrepreneurs Mitja Hertiš and Mića Mićić. The allegations involve transactions between the Serbian construction company MPP Jedinstvo and JHP. The SDT stated that the request for investigation was filed to clarify the actual situation through additional evidence, such as witness testimony and expert evaluations.
