Neuquén Legislature approves Vaca Muerta road funding
The Neuquén Legislature has approved a project to pre-finance road infrastructure through an agreement with energy companies operating in the Vaca Muerta region. The plan involves a total investment of up to 177 million USD to pave and repave 158 kilometers of provincial routes 7, 8, and 51.
Under the approved scheme, 15 operating companies will advance the necessary funds at a zero interest rate. The Province of Neuquén will be responsible for executing the works. The capital provided by the companies will be recovered by the provincial government through deductions from the royalties that the operators are required to pay. The agreement includes a 30-month grace period before the repayment process begins.
