Damián Valenzuela Mayer disputes journalist Hildebrandt amid scrutiny of ties to Keiko Fujimori

Journalist César Hildebrandt has responded to a notary letter from Argentine businessman Damián Valenzuela Mayer, who is linked to Peruvian politician Keiko Fujimori. Valenzuela Mayer had demanded a rectification from Hildebrandt’s weekly publication.

Migratory records indicate that Valenzuela Mayer has visited Lima 44 times, contradicting claims made by Fujimori that their relationship only began recently in 2026. The records show his first visit to Lima occurred during the 2011 presidential campaign. During that period, lawyer Alonso Rey Bustamante, part of the Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Pérez law firm, founded the Peruvian branch of Latin America Invest (LAI), an investment firm belonging to Valenzuela, who served as an advisor to Fujimori.
