Damir Fabijanić opens Dubrovnik summer residence exhibition
Photographer Damir Fabijanić has opened his exhibition ‘Dubrovački ljetnikovac’ (Dubrovnik Summer Residence) at the Art Gallery Dubrovnik. The project focuses on the valuable but often neglected aristocratic architecture of Dubrovnik, documenting its beauty, wartime destruction, and subsequent restoration.
The exhibition serves as a visual companion to a 2003 book by Fabijanić and author Nada Grujić. The project originated in 1993 and has previously been showcased in Ston and Zagreb. Curated by Dr. Jasna Galjer, the exhibition aims to highlight the importance of preserving Dubrovnik’s summer residences as vital cultural heritage.
Fabijanić, a prominent Croatian photographer active since the late 1960s, utilizes a range of styles from documentary reportage to conceptual art to capture the intersection of past and present within these historic sites.
