Damir Karakaš releases ‘Crteži’ book and exhibition

Croatian writer Damir Karakaš has released a new book titled ‘Crteži’ (Drawings), published by OceanMore, which compiles his visual works spanning from 1991 to the present. The publication is accompanied by an exhibition at Galerija Šira, featuring approximately thirty selected works.

The collection includes various phases of his artistic development, such as early drawings from 1991–1994, portrait studies of writers from 2023–2024, and more recent works. The exhibition, curated by Nevenka Šarčević, explores the intersection of literature and visual art, also featuring works from students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.

Karakaš, widely recognized for his literary contributions, described the release of this monograph with the same excitement he felt when his first prose book was published. His visual style is noted for sharing the same wit and keen observation found in his novels and columns.
