Damir Margeta introduces patented bicycle parking to prevent theft

Damir Margeta, a traffic engineer and activist in Sarajevo, has developed an innovative bicycle parking concept designed to combat theft and vandalism. The internationally patented BPARKO Combo system integrates a standard bike stand with nearly unbreakable chains to secure both the frame and wheels.

This innovation aims to prevent ‘bike stripping,’ where thieves remove components like seats and wheels, leaving the bicycle unusable. A pilot of the system has been installed in Sarajevo, and similar solutions have already been implemented in 16 cities across five Western Balkan countries.
