Damjan Žugelj files complaint against Necenzurirano portal

Damjan Žugelj, the former director of the Office for Money Laundering Prevention, has filed a complaint against the portal Necenzurirano.si and its authors with the Journalists' Code of Ethics, the Journalists' Association of Slovenia, and the Journalists' Union of Slovenia.

Žugelj alleges that the media outlet has engaged in a pattern of reporting that treats him as a guilty party before any legal findings or court rulings have been established. He specifically cites an article from October 6, 2026, regarding bank account investigations, arguing that the portal’s use of terms like ‘Žugelj’s targets’ and ‘Slovenian Watergate’ fails to distinguish between investigations, criminal charges, and convictions.

In separate statements, Žugelj has also raised concerns regarding financial transactions during the Golob administration. He highlighted questionable payments totaling 108,000 euros involving the company Gen-I and Vesna Vuković, a public relations official for the Freedom Movement, noting a lack of documentation proving services were rendered for those funds.
