Damson Idris to star in Miles Davis biopic ‘Miles & Juliette’

Production has commenced in Paris for ‘Miles & Juliette’, a new feature film from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Bill Pohlad and River Road Entertainment. The film stars Damson Idris as jazz legend Miles Davis and Anamaria Vartolomei as French singer and actress Juliette Gréco.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Zora Howard, the story focuses on a pivotal chapter in Davis’s life during a 1949 trip to Paris. The narrative explores the relationship between the 22-year-old musician and Gréco, who was becoming a central figure in the postwar Left Bank artistic scene. The film depicts a period of creative and personal development for Davis during his first journey outside the United States.

The supporting cast includes J. Alphonse Nicholson as Kenny ‘Klook’ Clarke, Jay Reeves as Tadd Dameron, and Terrace Martin as Charlie ‘Bird’ Parker. Other cast members include Denny Love as James Moody, Lodric D. Collins as Max Roach, and Hubert Point-Du Jour as John Coltrane. Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman are also producing through Jagged Films.
