Dan Air files for insolvency in Romania

Romanian airline Dan Air has officially filed for insolvency at the Ilfov Tribunal, seeking creditor protection and the opportunity to restructure its debts. The filing comes as the company’s liabilities reportedly rose to 126.3 million lei in 2025, up from 90 million lei in 2024.

Company representatives stated that the legal procedure is not expected to affect the current flight schedule. Dan Air, founded in 2017, operates regular commercial flights from Bucharest Henri Coandă and Bacău George Enescu airports to various European destinations, including London, Dublin, Paris, and Dortmund, as well as routes in the Middle East and Caucasus.

This development follows a similar recent attempt by another Romanian carrier, AnimaWings, which sought insolvency in September but had its request rejected by the Bucharest Tribunal. Dan Air has seen growth in recent years, transporting approximately 272,000 passengers in 2025, a 30% increase from the previous year.
