DAN Air moves operations from Bacău Airport following insolvency filing
DAN Air has announced the temporary relocation of all its operations from George Enescu International Airport in Bacău to Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest. This decision follows an insolvency petition filed by the Bacău airport management at the Ilfov Tribunal on October 29.
DAN Air claims the insolvency request was premature, noting that over 83% of the outstanding debts were less than 33 days old, whereas legal insolvency is typically presumed for debts unpaid for 60 days. The airline stated it has already paid 100,000 lei and was negotiating a repayment schedule. The company further alleged that its financial difficulties stem from NETOPIA withholding over 900,000 euros in passenger payments.
Cristina Breahnă-Pravăț, President of the Bacău County Council, has called for an urgent plan of measures to prevent flight suspensions. She requested a detailed analysis of the financial relationship between the airport and the airline, which reportedly owes more than 1.34 million lei. The County Council is seeking to evaluate the potential impact on passenger traffic, destinations, and airport revenue.
