Dan Bewley sidelined by serious injury

British speedway star Dan Bewley is currently recovering from a serious injury sustained on May 20, which resulted in a broken femur and a damaged vertebra. The accident occurred during a Danish league match when Bewley lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to strike an inflatable barrier with significant force.

Bewley, a Grand Prix champion, reflected on the incident by recalling a similar traumatic accident eight years ago in Workington that nearly ended his career. He noted that in 2019, he was “one phone call away from ending his career” following a severe femur fracture.

Due to the ongoing recovery process, Bewley will miss the upcoming Team World Cup final in Warsaw. Piotr Protasiewicz, manager of Betard Sparta Wrocław, confirmed that while Bewley hoped to compete, the decision was made to prioritize his health given the high stakes of the event and the nature of the track.
