Dan Houser reveals new Absurd Ventures game projects

Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games and key creative force behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, has revealed details regarding new projects at his studio, Absurd Ventures.

In a recent interview with Variety, Houser explained that he is intentionally avoiding watching the Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay reveal and other open-world titles. He stated that doing so prevents him from being creatively distracted or falling into the habit of comparing his work to others, noting that he often finds himself deconstructing the technical strengths and weaknesses of other teams while playing.

Absurd Ventures is currently developing two distinct gaming projects. The first is described as an open-world comedy focused on character narrative and memory, which is expected to see more details released in the coming months. The second is a dystopian science-fiction title centered on a sentient artificial intelligence that emerges from a failed video game development process. The studio aims to build a multi-media narrative universe, encompassing games, graphic novels, and other media.
