Dan Puric withdrawn from Bacău school event following controversy

The administration of Vasile Alecsandri National College in Bacău has withdrawn an invitation to cultural figure, actor, and writer Dan Puric following a social media campaign. The controversy began after the school leadership planned to host Puric for an anniversary event.

A petition titled ‘Without Dan Puric at the Alecsandri College anniversary in Bacău’ was launched on the Declic platform, with the author arguing that Puric’s presence in a public educational institution would conflict with the school’s ‘secular and neutral character.’

In response to the backlash, the Mayor of Bacău, Lucian Viziteu, announced the withdrawal of the project to associate with the college for the event. Additionally, the school management decided to cancel the collaboration with Puric and removed a scheduled theology conference and psalm concert from the program.
