Dan Quinn emerges as betting favorite to be first NFL coach fired

Following the first week of the NFL preseason, betting odds from BetOnline indicate that Washington head coach Dan Quinn is currently the favorite to be the first coach fired in the 2026 season. Quinn holds 3/1 odds, receiving twice as much betting volume as the next closest candidate, Todd Bowles of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This shift follows a disastrous season for the New York Jets under head coach Aaron Glenn. The Jets finished with a 3-14 record, becoming the first team in NFL history to go an entire season without an interception and the first to lose five consecutive games by 23 or more points. In response to the performance, the Jets fired half of their coaching staff, including both offensive and defensive coordinators. Former staff members have described the experience as the ‘worst football experience’ they have had, noting that the roster was further weakened by trading away Pro Bowlers Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams at the trade deadline.
