Dan Scavino faces backlash over AI-generated champagne celebration video

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino is facing criticism from both Democrats and fellow Republicans following the release of an AI-generated video depicting a lavish celebration. The clip shows Scavino, his wife Erin Elmore, Lara Trump, and Eric Trump appearing to celebrate with champagne on a gilded luggage cart, accompanied by Donald Trump, set to the song ‘Don’t Stop the Party’.

Scavino shared the video in response to discussions regarding a recent state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating he wanted to share his own celebration “in complete transparency, with the American People.”

Critics have labeled the post “tone deaf,” arguing that the display of luxury is insensitive to Americans facing a cost-of-living crisis involving groceries, gas, and mortgages. The backlash comes as the Republican party prepares for the November midterm elections, with some commentators suggesting the video undermines efforts to focus on economic affordability.
