Dan Zlock attempts to break 1993 Bonneville land speed record

American racer Dan Zlock is attempting to break a long-standing land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The record in the 750cc semi-faired category was set by Loris Capirossi on August 29, 1993, reaching a speed of 299.824 km/h using a modified Honda NR750.

Zlock, 73, has faced multiple setbacks in recent years. In 2024, a mechanical issue during a return run prevented his speed from being officially certified. In 2025, his attempts were thwarted by track conditions and two separate motorcycle fires.

For his latest attempt, Zlock is utilizing a custom-engineered motorcycle. The machine features a frame from a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and an engine block from a 2000 Kawasaki ZX-9R, modified to comply with the 750cc class regulations.
