Danantara bolsters PNM to aid 23.3 million ultra‑micro borrowers in Indonesia
Danantara Asset Management visited PNM’s service points in Mojokerto, Indonesia, to review the microfinance firm’s model that combines credit with business mentoring, financial literacy and community facilities such as the "Ruang Pintar" learning centre. The partnership emphasises support for ultra‑micro enterprises, particularly women and low‑income families.
PNM currently serves over 23.3 million ultra‑micro clients nationwide through a network of about 4,655 service units and 58 branches across 36 provinces. In Mojokerto alone, as of 30 June 2026, the institution has more than 73,000 active borrowers, aided by 25 Mekaar units, 352 account‑officers and 5,515 weekly group meetings. Danantara praised PNM’s holistic approach, noting that beyond financing it provides sustained guidance and education that helps clients expand their businesses, as illustrated by a borrower who grew a small snack stall into a diversified noodle shop.
The visit also highlighted the "Ruang Pintar" programme, which offers non‑formal education for children of PNM’s client families, reinforcing the broader goal of community development alongside economic empowerment.
