Danbury Westerners defeat Sanford Mainers to extend NECBL finals

The Danbury Westerners extended the New England Collegiate Baseball League championship series by defeating the Sanford Mainers 8-7 on Tuesday night in Danbury, Connecticut. After trailing by five runs, Danbury secured the win with two home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Sanford had previously won the series opener 3-1 and held a 7-6 lead heading into the final inning. Ronan Donohue tied the game with a home run, and Garrett McGovern followed with a walk-off drive to right center. The victory prevents a Sanford sweep in the best-of-three finals. Game 3 is scheduled to take place in Sanford on Wednesday.
