Dance and ballet performances scheduled in Rome
The Spellbound Contemporary Ballet will present “The Sleeping Queen,” a new work by Mauro Astolfi, at the Teatro Vascello in Rome from December 1 to 6, 2026. The production offers a contemporary reinterpretation of “Sleeping Beauty,” exploring themes of power, isolation, and the reconnection of an authoritarian figure with humanity. The musical score utilizes Tchaikovsky’s original compositions, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Additionally, students from the Piccolo Teatro Libertà in Benevento recently completed a training program at Rome’s Art Village. Fourteen dancers received scholarships based on their technical and artistic merit during year-end exams, allowing them to participate in a week of professional development under the direction of Raffaele Paganini. The program provided the students with opportunities to engage with various instructors and artistic approaches to enhance their technical and expressive skills.
