Dane Gagai cleared to play NRL preliminary final

The NRL match review committee has released judiciary charges following recent play, confirming that Newcastle Knights veteran centre Dane Gagai will be available for the team’s preliminary final against the Penrith Panthers on September 27.

No further punishment was handed down to Gagai, who is set to join the Broncos next season. Gagai has reached 338 NRL appearances, placing him 12th on the all-time list. Within the Newcastle Knights organization, he has now made 240 appearances, trailing only Danny Buderus, Kurt Gidley, and Andrew Johns.

In other disciplinary actions, Warriors centre Ali Leiataua was charged with a grade one careless high tackle on Knights captain Kalyn Ponga. Leiataua received a $1,000 fine following an early guilty plea. No charges were laid against Dylan Lucas.
