Danganronpa 2x2 delayed to 2027 due to GTA 6
The visual novel "Danganronpa 2x2" has been delayed until 2027. Developers Gemdrops and Spike Chunsoft cited the upcoming release of Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto VI" as a factor in the rescheduling.
Producer Shohei Sakakibara indicated that the team wanted to avoid a crowded release window dominated by major AAA titles. Series creator and advisor Kazutaka Kodaka jokingly added, "I wouldn't have had time to develop the game while I was playing GTA VI," suggesting the delay was inevitable to allow the team to experience the major release.
"Danganronpa 2x2" is an alternative retelling of the 2012 title "Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair." It features updated graphics and a new scenario titled "Slayhem," which is expected to provide approximately 120 percent of the content found in the original game. The title is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
