Dangjin City to provide 300,000 won economic recovery grants to citizens

Dangjin City in Chungnam Province has passed an ordinance to provide an economic recovery grant of 300,000 won per person to all citizens ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. The plan aims to distribute the funds via local currency to approximately 174,000 residents, including registered citizens, marriage immigrants, and permanent residents.

The city intends to allocate 53 billion won in next year's budget for this initiative. This follows a previous attempt to implement similar support during the Chuseok holiday, which was rejected by the Dangjin City Council due to a lack of majority support.

The revised ordinance passed the council with 12 votes in favor and one abstention. To address previous concerns, the city has specified criteria for the grant, focusing on instances where the local economy is shrinking or citizens' economic burdens have increased. The council also mandated that the city report the payment plan before budget allocation and undergo a professional performance evaluation after distribution.
