Dangote Cement Announces Record Dividend and Expanded Sustainability Plans
Dangote Cement Plc reported a record dividend of N45 per share for the 2025 financial year, a 50 % increase over the previous payout and bringing total dividends paid over the past 15 years to more than N3.3 trillion. Chairman Emmanuel Ikazoboh and CEO Arvind Pathak said the higher payout reflects strong earnings, cash generation and the company’s pan‑African growth strategy, which aims to raise installed capacity to 80 million tonnes per annum by 2030, including new plants in Botswana and Zimbabwe.
At its 17th Annual General Meeting, the firm also unveiled a 2025 sustainability scorecard. It pledged to cut net CO₂‑emission intensity by 20 % by 2027, convert all Nigerian fleet trucks (except at the Gboko plant) to compressed natural gas by 2027 and introduce electric trucks in 2026. Environmental improvements reported include a 6.5 % reduction in CO₂ intensity since 2021, 1.7 % lower energy intensity and an 8 % drop in water use. The company created 625 green jobs, raised social‑investment spending by 56 % and added 297 local vendors to its ESG‑focused supply chain. Expanded port infrastructure at Apapa, Onne and Lekki is intended to boost cement exports across Africa.
