Dangote Cement Chooses London Over Dubai for Secondary Listing
The Dangote Group explained that it will pursue a secondary listing of Dangote Cement on the London Stock Exchange rather than Dubai. Board member Mariya Dangote and Executive Director Fatima Dangote said the UK market offers faster execution, deeper liquidity and a more attractive regulatory environment for global investors. The secondary listing, expected before the end of 2026, will complement the company's primary listing on the Nigerian Exchange and will involve offering about 10 % of its equity to foreign institutional investors. The move is intended to broaden the investor base, improve access to long‑term international capital and support the conglomerate’s expansion programme across Africa, aligning with its ambition to build a $100 billion industrial empire by 2030.
The company highlighted recent UK capital‑market reforms that have enhanced London’s appeal for emerging‑market firms seeking overseas capital, while noting that listing in Dubai would involve more regulatory hurdles and longer timelines.
