Dangote Cement empowers Jakura community with scholarships and grants

Dangote Cement Plc’s Obajana Plant has launched a series of scholarship and empowerment programmes aimed at supporting the Jakura community. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to its Community Development Agreement (CDA).

Educational grants totaling several million Naira were awarded to 60 secondary school students and 20 tertiary institution beneficiaries. To support local livelihoods, the company provided 20 farmers with funds and essential farming implements to improve agricultural productivity and food security. Additionally, 20 market women received start-up capital and business support to promote financial independence.

The program was attended by various stakeholders, including traditional rulers and government representatives. Local leaders noted that in addition to these empowerment efforts, an electrification project in the area is nearing completion.
