Dangote Refinery extends IPO deadline to October 27

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has extended the application period for its initial public offering (IPO) to October 27, 2026. The extension, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission, aims to facilitate broader participation from investors across the African continent, addressing regulatory and platform access challenges in various jurisdictions.

The IPO involves 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares. If fully subscribed, the offering is expected to raise approximately ₦2.15 trillion to fund the expansion of the 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery, which aims to double its capacity by 2030.

To increase retail inclusion, the Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched a share grant initiative. This program intends to help up to five million tertiary students and two million vulnerable women become shareholders by matching qualifying subscriptions. Aliko Dangote has characterized the offering as the ‘People’s IPO’, emphasizing the goal of broadening ownership beyond existing stakeholders.
