Dangote Group expands into Cameroon with new oil and gas entity
The Nigerian conglomerate Dangote Group has officially established Dangote Oil & Gas Cameroon SA in Douala. The new entity, registered with a starting capital of 10 million FCFA, aims to operate across the petroleum downstream sector, including pipelines, refining, fuel distribution, and electricity production.
Headquartered in Douala-Bonanjo with operational hubs planned for the Kribi industrial zone, the company’s scope includes the design, financing, and operation of crude oil and natural gas pipelines, pumping stations, terminals, and depots. The company’s board includes Aliko Dangote, Devakumar Victor Gnanadoss Edwin, and Fatima Aliko Dangote, with Bertrand Mbouck serving as Director General.
This expansion coincides with a strategic 30-month agreement signed between Cameroon’s national refinery, Sonara, and Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, alongside MRS Holdings Limited. Following the 2019 fire that halted Sonara’s refining capabilities, Cameroon has become entirely dependent on fuel imports. Under this new arrangement, Dangote is expected to supply 50% of the country’s fuel requirements over the next three years, while MRS handles logistics and transport.
