Dangote Petroleum Refinery reduces diesel price to N1,700 per litre
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) gantry price by N80 per litre, lowering the rate from N1,780 to N1,700. This 4.5 per cent decrease, effective Wednesday, October 7, 2026, marks the facility’s second price adjustment within a single month.
The price cut follows a decline in diesel import costs and volatility in the international crude oil market. Data from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria indicated that the estimated spot landing cost of diesel dropped from N1,823.68 to N1,696.40 per litre in early October. This adjustment brings the refinery’s domestic wholesale rates closer to international import-parity costs.
The refinery notified customers that it will issue credit values for unloaded gantry volumes affected by this downward price adjustment. Analysts suggest the reduction may lower depot prices nationwide, potentially providing financial relief to businesses and consumers dependent on diesel for power generation and operations.
