Dangote Refinery Secures First Crude Oil Cargoes from UAE

Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery, a 700,000‑barrel‑per‑day facility, placed orders for two crude oil cargoes from the United Arab Emirates, marking its first ever import of Middle Eastern crude. The purchases were made after the United States and Iran reached an interim peace agreement that restored confidence in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, encouraging tankers to resume Gulf exports and lowering regional crude prices. Expanding beyond its historic reliance on Nigerian, other African and United States grades, the refinery is diversifying its feedstock as it plans to double capacity to 1.4 million bpd by the end of 2028 and increase the share of heavier, Middle Eastern crude in its mix.
