Dani Alves ordered to pay $2.25 million to Pumas UNAM

The Swiss Federal Tribunal has upheld a ruling requiring former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves to pay an indemnity to the Mexican club Pumas UNAM. This decision finalizes a legal dispute following the club's decision to terminate Alves's contract in early 2023 due to breaches of ethical and conduct standards following his legal issues in Spain.

The ruling follows a previous decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which determined that Pumas had sufficient grounds to rescind the contract. Alves is ordered to pay approximately $2.25 million USD to the club for damages.

In addition to the primary indemnity, Alves must also cover legal costs and interest. The Swiss court rejected Alves's appeal, stating that the arguments presented by his legal team were insufficient to overturn the original CAS resolution.
