Dani Carvajal discusses transfer to Getafe

Veteran defender Dani Carvajal has addressed his unexpected move to Getafe, signing a one-year contract with the Madrid-based club. The 34-year-old former Real Madrid captain noted that the transfer faced initial hurdles when La Liga contested his registration due to an unusually low salary in his contract.

In an interview with Marca, Carvajal expressed motivation for the move, citing the desire to remain in his home city of Madrid and the opportunity to contribute his experience to the team. He specifically credited head coach José Bordalás as a key factor in his decision, noting their shared competitive mentality.

Carvajal’s departure from Real Madrid follows a highly successful tenure where he won four La Liga titles and six Champions League trophies. Following his signing, Getafe is reportedly considering further squad reinforcements, including interest in free agent Jadon Sancho to bolster their attacking options.
