Dani Ceballos Terminates Contract with Real Madrid, Becomes Free Agent

Midfielder Dani Ceballos has mutually agreed to end his nine‑year contract with Real Madrid, becoming a free agent on 1 July. The deal, reached a year before his original expiry in 2027, sees him forgo roughly €5 million in net salary and frees the club from a €10 million annual wage commitment.

The termination follows the appointment of José Mourinho, who does not count Ceballos in his plans. Real Madrid benefits financially, while Ceballos, a product of Real Betis’ academy, is expected to negotiate a new long‑term deal with his former club, which had previously ruled out a transfer fee. During his time in Madrid, Ceballos won 16 official titles, including three Champions Leagues, two La Liga crowns, and a Copa del Rey.
