Daniel Alfredsson joins Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff

Daniel Alfredsson, a legendary figure for the Ottawa Senators, has joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as an associate coach. The move marks a significant shift for the former winger, who spent 17 of his 18 NHL seasons in Ottawa and recently served as an assistant coach for the franchise.

Alfredsson noted that the decision was not made quickly, stating, “At first I wasn’t sure … can I do this?” He explained that the move was driven by a desire to experience different scenarios and evolve as a coach.

The transition has involved mending old rivalries, including with former Maple Leafs player Darcy Tucker. Alfredsson, a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, remains one of the most decorated players in Senators history, holding franchise records for goals, assists, and points.
