Daniel Bassan named VP of Investment Banking at Santander Brazil

Santander Brazil announced that Daniel Bassan, the former chief executive of UBS Brazil and Latin America, will become vice‑president of its Corporate & Investment Banking unit (SCIB). Bassan, who brings more than 30 years of experience and has previously held senior roles at Credit Suisse and BTG Pactual, is slated to start in early 2027.

He will report locally to Gilson Finkelsztain, the president of Santander Brazil, and globally to José Maria Linares, head of the SCIB division for Grupo Santander. Until Bassan joins, Rafael Kappaz will continue overseeing SCIB in Brazil. Bassan replaces Christian Egan, who left after two months to become chief executive of B3.

The appointment is part of Santander's effort to strengthen its wholesale banking capabilities in the Brazilian market.
