Daniel Carr suspended five games for punch against Gaëtan Haas
The National League has suspended HC Ajoie forward Daniel Carr for five games following a punch thrown at EHC Biel-Bienne captain Gaëtan Haas. In addition to the suspension, Carr has been fined 7,600 Swiss francs, including procedural costs.
The incident occurred during a match on Friday when a multi-player altercation broke out in the 46th minute. While Haas was on the ice and without his helmet, Carr struck him in the face. As a result of the blow, Haas has sustained a concussion and is sidelined indefinitely.
In a statement to the league, Carr expressed regret and argued that the strike should not be viewed in isolation from the broader fight, noting he did not realize Haas was unable to continue. He suggested a one- or two-game suspension would have been more appropriate. HC Ajoie has the option to appeal the ruling within five days.
