Daniel Chacón returns to Alajuelense after year‑long injury layoff

Midfielder Daniel Chacón made his first competitive appearance for Liga Deportiva Alajuelense since suffering two consecutive ruptures of the right‑knee anterior cruciate ligament. After a year away from the field, he was selected in the starting lineup for the 1‑1 draw against Sporting FC in the Apertura 2026 tournament.

Chacón said the comeback meant “a huge relief” and thanked his family, the club’s medical staff, sporting director Carlos Vela and head coach Ismael Rescalvo for the opportunity. He highlighted the emotional weight of returning after more than a year of rehabilitation and expressed determination to keep improving his performance.
