Daniel Cohn-Bendit endorses Raphaël Glucksmann for 2027 French presidency
Former European MEP and May 1968 figure Daniel Cohn-Bendit has announced his support for Raphaël Glucksmann ahead of the 2027 French presidential election. In an interview with Le Point, Cohn-Bendit described Glucksmann as the only candidate within the reformist left capable of offering a new social-ecological vision for the future.
Glucksmann, a member of Place Publique, has not yet officially declared his candidacy and is expected to confirm his ambitions by the end of the summer. Cohn-Bendit dismissed potential candidates such as François Hollande, Ségolène Royal, and Bernard Cazeneuve, labeling them as ‘has beens’ and emphasizing the need for a project-based approach rather than traditional charisma.
Cohn-Bendit also issued sharp criticisms of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, claiming the La France Insoumise leader has abandoned universalist values and adopted an ‘antisemitic position’ regarding foreign policy. On the right, Cohn-Bendit identified Édouard Philippe as the sole candidate for the reformist right, suggesting Gabriel Attal may eventually withdraw in his favor.
