Daniel Dubois seeks early heavyweight clash with Moses Itauma

Heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois has expressed a desire to fight Moses Itauma sooner rather than later, aiming to face the younger fighter before their respective careers reach the stage of a Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua matchup.

Dubois, 29, is coming off a second-round stoppage of Fabio Wardley and believes his previous setbacks have improved his determination and ability to handle pressure. He has voiced support for Itauma’s recovery following his defeat to Filip Hrgovic, noting that the industry remains behind the young fighter.

However, matchmaking remains uncertain. Promoter Frank Warren has targeted January 2027 for Itauma’s comeback, focusing on rebuilding the 21-year-old's confidence and testing his ability to absorb lessons from his recent loss. While Dubois seeks immediate challenges, there is speculation that Queensberry may prefer to protect Itauma's development by matching him against different opponents before a high-stakes bout with Dubois.
