Daniel Duggan faces US extradition over Chinese pilot training allegations

Daniel Duggan, a former US Marine currently held at Macquarie Correctional Centre, is at the center of an extradition battle involving the US Department of Justice. The US alleges that Duggan breached arms export laws by receiving $115,000 to train Chinese military pilots in aircraft carrier landing techniques.

While Duggan has not been charged with any crime under Australian law, his family reports significant hardship. His wife, Saffrine Duggan, is currently petitioning the Federal Attorney-General to use executive powers to bring him home, citing the emotional and financial toll on their six children and their farm in Forest Reefs. Duggan has reportedly spent 19 months in solitary confinement during this legal process.
