Daniel Ekuale holds tryout with Washington Commanders

Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale participated in a tryout with the Washington Commanders. The 32-year-old is seeking a comeback following a season-ending torn ACL suffered during the 2025 season in Week 8.

Ekuale, who previously played for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New England Patriots, was a rotational defensive tackle for the Steelers. In addition to his injury, Ekuale was suspended for five games by the NFL for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

While Ekuale is seeking a roster spot, the Commanders also held tryouts for defensive tackles Jalen Hunt and Devonnsha Maxwell, as well as running back Devin Neal, who was subsequently signed to the team’s practice squad.
