Daniel Ferré faces reduced prison request in Cooperativa de l'Aldea trial

The trial regarding the collapse of the Cooperativa de l'Aldea has concluded, with a sentence expected this Friday. During the final session at the Audiència de Tarragona, the prosecution reduced its prison request for former manager Daniel Ferré to 5 years and 2 months, citing undue delays in a case that first emerged in 2012.

In contrast, the legal representation for the cooperative has requested up to 23.5 years in prison for Ferré. The prosecution and the cooperative's legal team have accused Ferré of crimes including accounting fraud, falsification of commercial documents, disloyal administration, asset stripping, and misappropriation. Both parties agree on a civil liability amount of approximately 1,790,000 euros, though they differ on the requested fine: the prosecution seeks 6,700 euros, while the cooperative's representatives seek 162,000 euros.

A supplier involved in the case has accepted charges of falsifying commercial documents, facing a three-month prison sentence and a daily fine. The defense has requested the acquittal of the former manager.
