Daniel Günther launches Einheitsbuddeln 2026 tree-planting initiative

Schleswig-Holstein Minister President Daniel Günther has launched the eighth round of 'Einheitsbuddeln 2026', a nationwide tree-planting initiative held annually on the Day of German Unity. To mark the start in Kiel, Günther joined the board of Einheitsbuddeln e. V. to plant a Holsteiner Cox apple tree.

Originally established in 2019 by Schleswig-Holstein, the movement encourages citizens across Germany to plant trees to combat climate change and improve urban living conditions. Günther emphasized the importance of trees in mitigating heatwaves and creating greener communities.

In conjunction with the state's 80th anniversary, the Förderverein Kulturlandschaft Pinneberger Baumschulland e. V. is providing 80 fruit trees to schools and daycare centers throughout Schleswig-Holstein. These plantings are intended to serve as educational tools for teaching children about climate protection, biodiversity, and healthy nutrition.
