Daniel González resigns as Argentina's Energy and Mining Coordinator

Daniel González has resigned from his position as Secretary of Coordination of Energy and Mining within Argentina's Ministry of Economy. A former CEO of YPF, González served under Economy Minister Luis Caputo since August 2024, playing a central role in implementing the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI).

González announced his departure during a streaming program, stating that his decision stems from personal reasons and a desire to return to the private sector. He noted that he lacks political vocation and that his tenure was always intended to be a limited-term contribution to the current administration. While some reports mention legal investigations regarding electricity imports and gas tenders, González and his supporters emphasize the conclusion of a professional cycle.

Minister Luis Caputo praised González's performance as “extraordinary” on social media. The government has indicated that no immediate replacement will be appointed, and the existing secretaries for Energy and Mining will continue to manage their respective areas.
