Italian athletes secure podium finishes in skating and cycling

Italian athletes achieved several notable results in international figure skating and cycling competitions.

In figure skating, Daniel Grassl secured second place at the Nepela Memorial in Bratislava, scoring 278.80 points. He followed a strong short program with a free skate featuring a quadruple lutz, quadruple flip, and quadruple loop, finishing behind neutral Russian skater Evgeni Semenenko. In the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Batumi, Georgia, the ice dance duo Arianna Soldati and Nicholas Tagliabue finished fourth overall, narrowly missing the podium after a score of 148.85.

In cycling, at the 2026 World Championships in Montreal, Giulio Ciccone was the top Italian finisher, taking ninth place in the road race. The race was won by American Brandon McNulty. Other Italian participants included Christian Scaroni in 18th and Davide Piganzoli in 20th, while several others, including Alberto Bettiol and Matteo Trentin, did not finish the race.
