Daniel Hussein identified as victim in Thomastown shooting

Daniel Hussein, a plumber in his 20s, has been identified by his family as the victim of a fatal shooting in Thomastown, Melbourne. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday near HR Uren Reserve on Victoria Drive.

According to Hussein’s brother, Ali, Daniel was rushing to assist a friend involved in a brawl when he was shot. The altercation that led to the shooting allegedly originated in the Melbourne CBD two nights prior to the incident. Hussein had recently completed a plumbing apprenticeship and was engaged to be married.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case, and the gunman remains at large. Local authorities cordoned off the area near the Lalor United Sloga Football Club following the shooting. The club's president noted that while the incident occurred near the club's car park, it was not related to the organization.
