Daniel Křetínský to become largest shareholder in West Ham United

Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský, owner of Sparta Prague, is set to become the largest shareholder in the English football club West Ham United. Following an agreement with existing shareholders, Křetínský will increase his stake from approximately 27 percent to 46 percent.

Under the new ownership structure, David Sullivan's share will rise to 40 percent, while American investor Tripp Smith is expected to hold 11 percent. The transaction, which is expected to be finalized by the end of September, is anticipated to lead to changes in the club's management.

The deal follows a period of uncertainty earlier this summer. A previous attempt by a consortium led by Amanda Staveley to acquire a significant stake from the family of the late David Gold was unsuccessful, as existing shareholders exercised their rights of first refusal to purchase the shares instead.
