Daniel Kinahan Extradition to Ireland After Dubai Arrest

Irish national Daniel Kinahan, alleged leader of the Kinahan Cartel, was arrested in Dubai in April 2026 following an Irish arrest warrant for serious organised‑crime offences. Irish authorities are preparing to extradite him from the United Arab Emirates to face charges related to drug trafficking, firearms smuggling and money laundering.

Investigations by Bellingcat and The Sunday Times also revealed that his son, Christopher Kinahan Jr., holds a renewed UAE residence permit despite U.S. sanctions on the family. The permit is linked to a tourism company, and other cartel members are listed on corporate entities used to maintain a legal foothold in the Emirates. The case highlights tensions between UAE immigration practices and international sanctions regimes.
