Daniel Maldini makes Italy national team debut against Belgium

Daniel Maldini made his debut for the Italian national team during a Nations League match against Belgium. Following a strong start to the season with Cagliari, the attacker was called up by manager Roberto Mancini.

Maldini entered the match as a substitute in the 62nd minute, replacing Francesco Pio Esposito. Despite the team trailing and facing limited space, Maldini attempted to create opportunities, including an individual run and a pass toward the defense in the 78th minute. He also received a yellow card in the 90th minute for a tactical foul on Romelu Lukaku.

Prior to his international debut, Mancini had emphasized that his selection was based on Maldini’s on-field performance with Cagliari. Mancini noted that while off-field incidents had occurred, they did not impact the player's technical standing or his place within the national team project.
